…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. “Get fit while you sit…” sounds a little oxymoronic don’t ya think? Given the current health craze of our society, it’s no surprise that the market is full of new and innovative workout machines, products, and gadgets. However, one product that did come as a surprise to me is The Hawaiian Chair.
The Hawaiian Chair is an automated exercise machine that claims to perform many positive health-benefitting actions such as, “burning carbs, calories, and fat, easing muscle and joint pain in senior users, and targeting the core muscles of the body.” Wouldn’t we all love to get the perfect body simply by sitting in a chair?
Forgive my skepticism, but a fun workout machine which moves your body in a pattern similar to the ancient art of the Hawaiian Hula AND simultaneously provides a great lower body workout/toner… sounds a little too good to be true. I may have a biased opinion since new exercise gadgets have never received much of my attention, but I cannot imagine this one stealing the show. I fear that the self-conscious factor of having my hips swiveled for me in a motorized chair might overcome the accomplishing thoughts of a successful workout.
Many studies have been/are being conducted regarding the effectiveness of the Hawaiian Chair and its health claims; the jury is still out. As the saying goes, ‘don’t knock it ‘til you try it’; however, I think I’d rather grab my iPod and go for a run in order to guarantee workout. While technology and innovation are improving all areas of our lives, there is still something to be said for good, “old-fashioned” sweat and exercise.
