Looking for a belated Father’s Day gift? Lucky for you, it’s 2008, and the male shopper has become an increasingly sought-after demographic. There are loads of ‘man-brands’ lining the shelves these days that are perfect for the occasion.

Maybe Dad’s looking a bit rough around the edges lately. The “men’s grooming aids” business has exploded over the past few decades, leading to rows and rows of tough-sounding shave gels, face washes, hair dyes and even makeup. How about some Axe body spray? The name itself seems to beckon one’s inner lumberjack or caveman.

Sick of the same old fathers day ties? Never fear, because the fashion industry is increasingly accommodating to men as well. Sure, when Pops was young the only man-centric brand of jeans was Wranglers; now guys can choose from a number of men’s-only denim brands, ranging all the way up to sleek and ultra expensive designer jeans such as Kicking Mule and Nudie.

And don’t forget the quickest way to a man’s heart. Hardee’s has introduced a line of ads and menu items with particular guy-appeal, including an ultra-macho customer participation promotion called Burger Slayer. And what Dad can resist the testosterone oozing out of something called the Thickburger (or is that just cheese?).

It wasn’t too long ago when the only products adorned by man-brands were beer and tires (both excellent Father’s Day gift stand-bys, mind you). But why not explore the growing world of man brands. Specifically, often unapologetically, marketed with the male consumer in mind, they are sure to please even the most discriminating father.

So what are your favorite man brands?
